These are some questions that Wayne has been asked and his responses.

Q.  When you lost out in the last primaries, I heard Dale Depue tell you that he would get in contact with you, in his almost two years as our Representative has he ever contacted you?

A.  No he never has.  I have called his office a dozen or so times and he has never returned any of my calls.

Q.  Unlike Depue, if you are invited to a meeting or gathering will you show up?

A.  As long as I have at least two weeks notice and that date is clear I will be there.  Should something come up I will have a fully informed person come in my place to answer any questions you may have.  I am raising my daughter and still dating my wife.

Q.  Are you going to force your religious beliefs and moral values upon the people of this state under law?

A.  No.  A Representative should do what the people want done and not do what he/she thinks should be done.

Q.  Is there corruption in our state government, and what do you intend to do about it?

A.  Yes there is corruption in our state government.  I intend to seek it out, and expose it out, and have those involved prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  We need to clean up our ways and stop the government waist.

Q.  How do you feel about Depue's HB1532 which he introduced last session?

A.   Its no different than the tax imposed upon tobacco users,  Mr. Depue has singled out another group of people and because of their life style has imposed a high tax on them.  My belief is " If you impose taxes on select groups of people for what ever reason, it is illegal.  It is taxation without representation".

Q.  How do you feel about all this talk of the proposed changes to the immigration laws, that's been in the news a   lately?

A.  I am all for change.  We must protect our jobs and our citizens.  Our citizens and those who come to our country legally and then become citizens should not have to support for any reason, those who choose to come into this country illegally.  I also believe it should be a felony to be in this country illegally. There are currently 7 to 10 million people who are in this country illegally. It is not just the Hispanic, but other nationalities as well.

Q.  What about businesses who knowingly hire illegal immigrates?

A.  I believe those business owners should be charged with a felony and punished.

Q.  According to your brochure, how do you intend to fix the roads and bridges in our district and state?

A.  We can do this without raising taxes.  A couple months ago I met with Gary, ODOT's administrator.  He wants a trust fund set up instead of appropriations like it is now.  We may have to change a few laws and this can be done with some work and time, but it can be done.  In the long run a trust fund might be the best way to go. It will provide more monies for ODOT.

Q.  What is the operating budget for the transportation authority?

A.  If you are speaking of ODOT their budget is two hundred thirty five million dollars.  It is a straight line budget.  The cost of goods due to inflation and the outrageous fuel prices has gone up over 75.9%.  We are the 17th state in the US for highway miles traveled and those figures show that 67.7 million miles are traveled everyday, and is increasing every year.  ODOT'S budget is straight line. How many businesses do you know that are still in business with everything else increasing and a budget straight line?  NONE!!!!

Q.  How many bridges will need to be reworked or obsolete in 2007?

A.  In 2007 there will be 305 bridges that will be 80 years old or older. With the current operating budget for ODOT only 71 will be replaced with the current program.  By the year 2014 there will be 1143 bridges that will be 80 years old, or older. Under the current budget only 324 will be replaced.  So for every step forward, we take 5 steps backwards. No wonder the New York Times and the Washington Post think we are a bunch of back woods bare foot hillbillies.

Q.  Will you support any legislation for same sex marriages?

A.  No I will not.  I believe marriage is between one man and one woman.

Q.  How are you going to run your business, and represent us at the same time?

A.  If I am elected I will turn the operation of my business over to a friend of mine.  I have known him for many  years. We have worked together on several jobs. I know I can trust him with the company.  I made this decision several months ago.

Q.  I read your flyer and on there you stated that you wanted a list of priorities from the people, explain what you mean?

A.  I want a list from the people of District 31 that shows what is the most important item to the least important i.e.., problems with the schools, fixing the roads and so forth.  What is the most important item to you?  What do you want to see fixed or brought about? We and that is you and I will work together on that list and work together to fix the problems.  Your input is most important.
